I love this so much. Those mallets are absolutely magical! It's so refreshing to hear new music from you, always - one of the first musicians I came across on this site that just inspired me so much. You have such a respect for masterful sound design, small details, and incredible ambience. The melody at 2:08 played by (is it an oboe, bassoon?) reminds me so much of one of my favourite folk melodies, the melody of a folk song called Gröne Lunden. This entire thing is magical. Thank you for sharing!!

Step responds:

JORDI, thanks a million for dropping by!! Really means a lot to hear that you managed to get inspired by my music.

Gröne Lunden's melody sounds so similar to the one at 2:08 (which is a bassoon by the way), you're absolutely right. Almost sounds like plagiarism haha.

Thanks a lot for reviewing, it's great to hear from you.

This is dark and wonderful. Always a pleasure listening to your productions!

steampianist responds:

Thanks a lot dude. It's been a while

I really like this :)

Jmagnum responds:

Thanks :D

This has to be one of my favourite submissions to the NGADM of all time, even if you're a fill-in. I really love this, and now that winter is in full-flow and the streets outside are completely coated with snow here in Finland, this song serves to remind me of how warm it feels to be inside, and how beautiful it is outside. Thank you for this!

tailspun responds:

thank you so much! i'm a big fan of your music

oddly enough it's also started snowing here in the northern U.S., which is what inspired me to write this. i'm glad i was able to convey that feeling through this song :-)

This gives me anxiety (in a good way)

larrynachos responds:

Good anxiety is just excitement, no? Glad you liked it Jordi :D

Ahh it's up! Great job with this :D

McGorilla42 responds:

Yes! Hope you like it. I almost feel guilty that I didn't use as many of the amazing samples you provided me with as in the previous one! If you ever get a hankering to do it in your own way, let me know and I can send over the separates :)

This is really great and imaginative! One of my favourites of yours yet. For me, I think what could really add to this piece would be to build more on the ambience. Some drinking/drunk people related ambience, pub background or drinks and dancing, laughter, foot steps etc. along with the music playing would really take me there! :) Great composition. Good luck!

Everratic responds:

I'm glad to hear from you again!

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't fit with what I had in mind. This is more of a depiction of a recollection of the events during the aftermath than a vivid, real-time depiction. If the latter was my intent, the song would sound extremely different. Also, I don't have high quality sound effects anyway, and I'm reluctant to use them considering someone got DQd.

Thank you for the review :)

Very proud of you! You made this in such a short space of time from scratch and got it sounding so amazing. You never fail to impress me. That Valhalla reverb takes your mixing to another realm too.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Aww, thank you! I had a fun time composing it. It's always fun to compose with something else in mind (in this case, an artwork), as it sets some constraints. I find that the constrains really help with inspiration, especially with art like this :)
I am very happy with my purchase of Valhalla indeed!

This is awesome :) great job WF.

Waterflame responds:

Thanks!

Great job! Love the snares in this. I'd say just watch your balance between the instruments. That string melody at 2:14 gets a little buried by the rest but other than that, awesome! :)

Fav'd.

siteml responds:

Thanks! Those snares are my personal favorite for the piece, too - they take the momentum from before and really carry it forward - so instead of slowing down, the piece intensifies and leaves a lot of room to add even more epicness :D As far as that string melody goes, I probably could have boosted it with brass or woodwinds to get some more clarity - but at the same time, I kind of like how it sneaks about - then gets reiterated with the octave-higher repeat into the grand finale. Good catch, though, thanks!

Composer & vocalist. One half of Forest Elves, also often found making music with LucidShadowDreamer. I also enjoy encouraging other musicians on NG and getting to hear inspiring music :)
