I've always loved your use of FX in your tracks. This is super interesting, well composed, well mixed. That piano is bliss. That restaurant ambience was really nice too. Nothing bad to say about this!

Oh Trois. It's been too long that I've listened to your music but I'm gonna immediately go back and listen to as many of your tracks as I can after listening to this. You're such an amazing songwriter both equally as a composer and a lyricist. Your songs and your words always tell an amazing story and you have such thoughtful elements in your tracks.

I agree that the piano would benefit well from being a lot louder, perhaps a bit brighter and with a different reverb. At times the piano sounds a little muffled and drowned out, especially because it's so quiet. I love the chord choices though and each chord flows from one to the next beautifully.

As I mentioned before, I always love your lyrics. These must be some of your best lyrics yet in my opinion. If I was solely a singer and not a composer myself, I'd totally hire you to write an album of songs for me to perform because I always resonate with your work so much! We have to collaborate sometime.

Vocal-wise, the mixing is definitely the best I've heard it! I'm not sure the reverb on the vocals supports the actual performance perfectly - which reverb plugin did you use? I think once you find a reverb plugin that really brings out the most in your voice, it will be so magical!! I love the harmony vocals. I didn't really get the right-ear heavy mix of some of the harmonies because it sounded a little asymmetrical to me. The recordings are gorgeous though and very tight, very Enya, and definitely your strength. I'd say focus your vocal practice on tonal dynamics and holding a steady tone! Your voice is always so beautiful so continue to practice controlling your voice. Your quiet vocals at the beginning and the end sound so sensitive and vulnerable, which really suits the vocals.

In terms of how much I love the song, I can't give this anything less than a 5/5. Such beautiful work. Usually I don't feel all that comfortable critiquing peoples' work - I much prefer to enjoy it! I guess Newgrounds is one of those websites that is an exception which is one of the reasons I love the honesty the audio community has to offer each other.

Ooh, rare to see Kalafina music on here. Good taste, and very welcome. I've been listening to Kalafina and Kajiura's music for a good many years and covered some myself back in the day :)

Onto the review! The performance is the piano is beautiful. It's gently and emotionally played. Kanade's voice is also very nice. A lovely tone and ear for harmonies which obviously lends itself well to a Kalafina song. This song would benefit from better mixing I think. While your piano is an accompaniment to a singer, it could be mixed in a way that allows the piano and the vocals to shine equally. I think the piano could afford to be a bit louder so that it really packs a punch. Your beautiful performance is often covered by the thick layer of voice.

Which, moving on to the vocals, they're really in need of some reverb! Kalafina songs always have this lush, almost cathedral-like reverb that makes the harmonies sound so powerfully rich and gorgeous. The reverb softens the vocals a lot and will give this an otherwordly sound. I also think the piano could benefit from a thicker reverb too. I think there's a lot of space in the mix.

I really hope you don't mind, but I've downloaded the song and just mastered it a little, put a bit of reverb on, just to hear how it would sound if the mix wasn't so dry. Ideally I wouldn't just throw a reverb onto a whole track, as it can get a bit muddy, but I think it does a lot for the track, personally. She has a very Kalafina-like voice that just suits itself really nicely to a thick reverb.

I hope my review doesn't come across negatively. This is one of those few times that I feel that my own musical background and experience in working on a lot of this type of music can actually be of some benefit. I had a listen to some of your other collaborations too! THOSE STRINGS. You guys seem to be having a lot of fun and you guys collaborate beautifully. You've both earned a new fan :)
