This year's NGADM is just insane >_< great job!!

Spadezer responds:

Heck yeah!!!
XD

Frue Frue/Imogen Heap anyone? Just me?

I ship Steamy and Zip.

This is incredible though okay.

ZipZipper responds:

*FROU FROU. IMOGEN IS MINE. SHE IS MY GOD.

This piece is just beyond my comprehension. Lemme just calm down a minute.

Through memory 1 and 2, you really had me in a state of amazement. Seriously, it was beyond perfect. Insanely beautiful. For me though, while 3 is a well done piece on its own, for me there just seemed to be this sudden disconnect. The best way I feel I can describe it is that the piece dragged me into 1930's Argentina and I'm there right with the music. Then at 2:44 I could suddenly feel myself being picked out of it and dropped into a hotel lift being left quite confused. For me, that part just doesn't work in this piece.

I'd still put my bets on this piece being one of the highest scoring of the whole round. Really good job. <3 don't be mad at me I love you both ok thank you ;n;

SoundChris responds:

Hey jordi, thanks a lot for your kindness good sir! First we had another concept and wanted to write 3-4 little short pieces - each as a stand alone sinde we thought that a submission also could consist of individual but deeply elaborated parts because the NGADM rules seemed not to deal with this situation - since i accidentially found a passus in the faqs to the rules that the piece has to be (in general) coherent and that single short pieces are not allowed. So we had to react on this and combined the first 2 parts to 1 who is representing the glorious past of the argentine music that artists like astor piazzolla did. We could have connected the third part quite easily directly to part 2 but decided to leave a small pause - only connected with a single string glissando because in our concept now beginns a very new feel: The long forgotten memories meet the music of the present. It was important to us to underline that after we were in the past we now are in the present. But i can understand that some people will find this break a little sudden - even it was done by intent. But i totally understand what you mean :D

Thanks jordi for your awesome review!

This is really beautiful. You should turn it into a loop instead of fading it out. It would fit the whole purpose of meditation a lot more because then it would be infinite xD It's hard to get lost in a 2 minute track. Seriously, loop it. ^_~

larrynachos responds:

YOU'RE beautiful <3 lol

I tried looping it, but it doesn't really work well because the beginning kinda fades in, and the ending cuts out abruptly (I uploaded a looped version, but I didn't publish it: http://www.newgrounds.com/projects/audio/790018/preview). I'll work on making it loop properly, then I'll publish an updated version. Thanks!

This is insanely beautiful. I love the glissando of the strings in the main parts. Reminds me a little of the House of Flying Daggers soundtrack! Thank you for uploading :)

XayberOptix responds:

I guess because of its "oriental" feel, I can see how it reminds you of the House of Flying Daggers. :) Thanks for the review!

I really liked this! ^_^

larrynachos responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it, man! It was heavily inspired by your work :D

You've sampled a lot of my favourite things in this piece. Really good job. You had a message to deliver with this and you've delivered it.

Libby-Shimmz responds:

Thanks! :D

Reminds me a little of Kingdom Dance from Tangled at some points. I adore coming across tracks like this on Newgrounds! There is something that is a bit strange to my ears though. Would I be right in thinking that for the main melody in the first three quarters of the piece at least, you've used a layering of honky-tonk piano with an undertone of dulcimer? That's the only thing that keeps me from being able to really imagine this piece. Forgive me if I'm wrong, I know that sometimes people can mishear and reach the wrong conclusion and base their opinion on that which can be frustrating! ^ ^ Really nice job! ~*have a 5*~

LunyAlex responds:

Haha, firstly, thank you for the review and kind words!

Now... Yea, I totally know what you're talking about.

What you're hearing is a Piano combined with a Cimbalom, both playing the same notes at once. Initially I thought it was generating a harpsichord-like sound, but it later became clear that it's more towards of honky-tonk piano.

Thanks again and I'm really glad you liked it!

This. All of this. I love this. fjasoifjdsoiajfdoisjafoij.

ZipZipper responds:

No, I love you. hjkadhsjkdhjdhasjm.

When I can so clearly hear that a song is coming straight from the heart, I listen with a different ear. Less of an objectively judgmental one so that I can fully absorb the music as it was intended. However, I'll try. I could only really bring myself to take off 0.5 stars for the sound quality and for some flat notes in the vocals here and there, neither of which bothered me too much. I'd like to thank you for sharing such a raw performance with us. I'm more than sure that many people will find the lyrics relatable. I think you should think about going down to a studio one of these days and recording this and perhaps a few other originals. Really good job.

CreateAndDestroy responds:

Thank you so much for this review, this really made me happy to read. I appreciate the kind words!

I would love to head into a studio, it's on the list of things to do :)

Again, thank you so so much!
