Wow, what recorder sound is that? I'd love to have that at my disposal T_T amazing work!

SoundChris responds:

Thanks a lot! This track has been made at a time i didnt even know about reverbs or even sample libraries. I just have used the standard instruments which were included in logic pro 8. Most classical stuff sounds quite ... mehh ... but some of them i really like very much - like those recorders. They remind me of the final fantasy IX inro. I cant remember but i think that was what me inspired here :D

The quality of this is ABSOLUTELY freaking immense. You really are a true musician with not only the talent but the passion to go extremely far if you so choose to reach out and grab the opportunities that may come your way. I can't believe this. So SO gorgeous.

SoundChris responds:

Thanks a lot winds! I tried to get the sound quality of the guitar as high as possible - i thought this would be important because the spanish flair lives from all of those little details - the guitar string slides and noises and the inconstancy of speed and volume. That was the reason why i decided to do this track to learn as much as possible about the character of spanish music and how it works.

Thanks a lot for your kind review - really appreciate it, especially from you as an extremely talented artist :D

All the best to you!
Chris

I think this piece has a lot of potential! There are some very interesting parts of this piece and I adore the sound of that patterned synth. For me though, I feel like the guitar stands out too much in this piece. It's quite a repetitive rhythm which, if I were to mix it, I'd mix it in to sit with the rest of the orchestration rather than standing out so much until the 1 minute mark!

That part at 1 feels a little bare and I'd have liked to hear more of a build up, however the time signature is very interesting. The cross-over at 1:43 could use a little work as I feel it's more abrupt. I think the ending would benefit from perhaps a reversed cymbal or something else and a snappy end without the delay trailing off.

I still very much enjoyed listening to this, particularly the orchestral parts in the background have a lot of potential. The title though xD oh gosh. Who knows what may happen in this competition? Don't hold up the red flag just yet. All the best and please keep making music!

InYourDreams responds:

Hey winds! thanks for the nice words :). You're right, who knows what's gonna happen. Kor-Rune's song is pretty amazing though... xD. I couldn't had done something better with only a couple of hours of work. I would have needed at least one day more, but even if the judges had extended my deadline, I wouldn't have had the time IRL...
Thanks anyways and good luck to you this Round! I had a lot of fun taking part in this contest and never thought I'd make it so far :D

I really love this!! I can now say that I am most definitely a fan of you and your work. Last round's entry was amazing, but this really captures me. Thank you and all the best.

steampianist responds:

thanks man!

I love the rawness of this and I really like the layering. You're really very talented. I don't usually listen to much punk music but I can really appreciate this. I'm not sure if it's an element of punk but it does get a little repetitive. Instrumentally, you're really great with a microscopic attention to the rhythm. Perfectly timed. The only criticism I have that it isn't longer. Great job!

nomosubu responds:

Thanks a ton..... well, this actually is kind of a demo.... to capture some vocalist's attention as i'm not really good at vocals....and yup....punk music usually has like, 3 to 5 barre chord melodies ...so repetitive...

I scouted you for the audio portal which means your tracks will now appear there when you upload them.

This is simply ethereal. The feeling in this song is just phenomenal, almost like musical anesthesia. It puts me in a state of serenity which takes a whole lot of passion and talent to inject that sort of atmosphere into your music. A great addition to the website and happy to have found you.

nomosubu responds:

Thanks...i've been an NG user for a long time.... its only recently that i've decided to post music here....Thank you for your kind comment again..... be sure to come back for more.... :)

I may come across as a little brash in this comment, but I think comparing a traditional African style song to The Lion King is a very convenient and generic comparison to make. The only similarities I can hear is the fact that the genre is the same. This sounds very *you* despite being different from anything I've ever heard you make. Your voice is really fantastic in this song and if we ever collaborated, I could hear us doing something similar to this :p

This is a 9.5/10 for me because I TRULY adored it, however I felt the climax could be stronger to really get that wide and powerful effect!

headphoamz responds:

Yeeee! EW, you's the best. Thanks for saying it sounds very "me" - that's such a huge compliment! I think all artists struggle at some point to craft their style and that makes me feel happy you think I have one. :P
Um, yeah, btw after NGADM, let's do that collab thing. Because... that would be amazeballs. ^^

So while listening, each part, I've thought "yeah this part's my jam." "...no, this part is." and you know what? It's all my jam. The time spent on each part perfecting everything just makes this such an amazing song. I don't even want to call it a piece. It's a song and it's beautiful and I want to buy a flat in the middle of a huge city and just blast this song out the window.

By the near end, the instruments just weave around each other in such a way that twinned with the consistent rhythm of the drums, it becomes hypnotic with the lovely piano being used really well to bring the pace back down again. REALLY gorgeous. I woke up panicked today because I kept having dreams about aliens, it wasn't very good... maybe I predicted that I'd hear this song.

Amazing man, favourite.

Kor-Rune responds:

Thank you, it means a lot! I'm very happy you enjoyed it. :) I can't wait to collaborate!

This really reminds me of good old Japanese Pop ballads like Otsuka Ai's Kingyo Hanabi. Take a listen to that song if you haven't heard it. Anyone who knows me know that I've got a soft spot for this genre specifically. Such a classic melody and I love the instrumentation in this.

Critically, for me at least, I found it to be a little repetitive. The same melody repeated four times, although I do love the build up and the key change definitely added something to this piece. It also sounds a little like too many things I've heard already, but it could be argued that you captured a traditional Japanese melody skillfully.

I think you should hunt up a little Japanese girl and get her to sing for you. It would be a wonderful collaboration. Kudos and thanks for bringing more of this stuff to NG! :-)

dj-Jo responds:

Wow, I just listened to that song. It's very beautiful!
:3 Thanks for telling me about it!

Hmm, I thought about the repetitiveness, but I decided to keep it and try to vary it as much as I can without changing it too much. I see where your coming from.

Yeah I know what you mean (sounds a little like too many things I've heard alread), I got this melody by playing the piano randomly. I thought to myself, "I fell like I heard this before." After thinking that, I got on my computer and searched up all Anime OSTs I knew and listened to them to find out if it was from them, and it turns out that it wasn't and I decided to make a song from it haha

I was thinking about lyrics (either vocaloid or a real voice) but I didn't really know where to start on lyrics haha Oh well :D

Thank YOU for the review :3

YaaaAaAaaayY it's up! I can see you getting one of the highest scorings for Round 3, I really love what you've done with this. I hope everyone else loves it as much as I do. I better get to work on mine! <3

ChronoNomad responds:

Getting one of the highest scores would be decidedly awesome, to be sure! That's a club that I would love to join. I'm way too critical of my own work sometimes, and this is one of those times. That sinking "this isn't good enough" feeling keeps trying to creep in, but whatever happens it's been one hell of a run and I am content. Then, on the other hand, I think it's one of my best compositions ever. Hooray for conflicting emotions! :P

Thank you very much for the review, Jordi. It really means a lot to me. I wish you the absolute best of luck on your own project, and I'm looking forward to experiencing the finished product! <3
