I scouted you for the audio portal which means your tracks will now appear there when you upload them.

This is simply ethereal. The feeling in this song is just phenomenal, almost like musical anesthesia. It puts me in a state of serenity which takes a whole lot of passion and talent to inject that sort of atmosphere into your music. A great addition to the website and happy to have found you.

Thanks...i've been an NG user for a long time.... its only recently that i've decided to post music here....Thank you for your kind comment again..... be sure to come back for more.... :)

So while listening, each part, I've thought "yeah this part's my jam." "...no, this part is." and you know what? It's all my jam. The time spent on each part perfecting everything just makes this such an amazing song. I don't even want to call it a piece. It's a song and it's beautiful and I want to buy a flat in the middle of a huge city and just blast this song out the window.

By the near end, the instruments just weave around each other in such a way that twinned with the consistent rhythm of the drums, it becomes hypnotic with the lovely piano being used really well to bring the pace back down again. REALLY gorgeous. I woke up panicked today because I kept having dreams about aliens, it wasn't very good... maybe I predicted that I'd hear this song.

Amazing man, favourite.

Kor-Rune responds:

Thank you, it means a lot! I'm very happy you enjoyed it. :) I can't wait to collaborate!

This really reminds me of good old Japanese Pop ballads like Otsuka Ai's Kingyo Hanabi. Take a listen to that song if you haven't heard it. Anyone who knows me know that I've got a soft spot for this genre specifically. Such a classic melody and I love the instrumentation in this.

Critically, for me at least, I found it to be a little repetitive. The same melody repeated four times, although I do love the build up and the key change definitely added something to this piece. It also sounds a little like too many things I've heard already, but it could be argued that you captured a traditional Japanese melody skillfully.

I think you should hunt up a little Japanese girl and get her to sing for you. It would be a wonderful collaboration. Kudos and thanks for bringing more of this stuff to NG! :-)

dj-Jo responds:

Wow, I just listened to that song. It's very beautiful!
:3 Thanks for telling me about it!

Hmm, I thought about the repetitiveness, but I decided to keep it and try to vary it as much as I can without changing it too much. I see where your coming from.

Yeah I know what you mean (sounds a little like too many things I've heard alread), I got this melody by playing the piano randomly. I thought to myself, "I fell like I heard this before." After thinking that, I got on my computer and searched up all Anime OSTs I knew and listened to them to find out if it was from them, and it turns out that it wasn't and I decided to make a song from it haha

I was thinking about lyrics (either vocaloid or a real voice) but I didn't really know where to start on lyrics haha Oh well :D

Thank YOU for the review :3

YaaaAaAaaayY it's up! I can see you getting one of the highest scorings for Round 3, I really love what you've done with this. I hope everyone else loves it as much as I do. I better get to work on mine! <3

ChronoNomad responds:

Getting one of the highest scores would be decidedly awesome, to be sure! That's a club that I would love to join. I'm way too critical of my own work sometimes, and this is one of those times. That sinking "this isn't good enough" feeling keeps trying to creep in, but whatever happens it's been one hell of a run and I am content. Then, on the other hand, I think it's one of my best compositions ever. Hooray for conflicting emotions! :P

Thank you very much for the review, Jordi. It really means a lot to me. I wish you the absolute best of luck on your own project, and I'm looking forward to experiencing the finished product! <3

This piece actually reminds me of Final Fantasy 8. For some reason, I can imagine Julia playing this for Laguna. And then it kicks in and becomes something really fun to listen to. For something that was written so quickly, I think you should be really really proud. I'd be scared if I was up against you (even though you played the piano in mine haha!)

I think that NGADM or not, you should go ahead and compose the piece you wanted to pull off. The piece deserves to be made, just as this did. Great job BD~! :)

BlazingDragon responds:

You said you would be scared to go up against me but you got quite a bit further into the contest! Congratulations on that. :)

This reminds me of Dynasty Warriors music personally, a love of mine. This really flowed quite well for me, which can sometimes be a problem I've found with some metal. I think the balance of the different parts could be looked at, for example the pads I find would benefit with some stereo shaping and some more vibrance. I felt like it wasn't packing as much of a punch as it could, but then I decided to turn my volume up! ;) fantastic work!

InYourDreams responds:

Thanks for the nice words, man! ^_^ ... yeah, this thing with sacrificing loudness for dynamics still doesn't convince me. It sounds great but you have to turn the volume up... I don't know... Why can't we have both? :D

You've really pulled it out of the bag for me. It's reminiscent of so many different things for me, feeling-wise in each of the different parts! I just love 2:10-2:20 and the eerie turn it takes. This could be shot straight into a movie IMO. You're probably my favourite composer on Newgrounds, simply because you really push the boundaries. You're not afraid to experiment and take risks and they *always* seem to pay off. 5 stars out of 5!

headphoamz responds:

D'aww, thanks EW! Appreciate the feedback here. I'm happy you thought 2:10 was eerie as well. That's what I was going for!

This is absolutely beautiful. With most cinematic composers on NG, I've noticed that I've never heard a track that doesn't have some sort of climax. I think the fact that this doesn't actually build up to anything but really just remains consistently beautiful goes to show that you don't need this 'huge' sound to create something absolutely beautiful.

Seriously, I could see this for some reason in an older Tomb Raider game (if the quality was lower that is!) So beautiful. You've earned yourself a new fan :-)

Neon-Bard responds:

Thank you so much for the kind words! It really means a lot that you think that this track can be associated with the word 'beautiful'; a simple word like that can be a representation of a thousand things, all of them good. I often struggle with the conclusions of my songs, but I think you were right in saying that not all cinematic songs need that huge sound to come off as...well...beautiful!

I have never played a Tomb Raider game, but considering the weight that this title carries, I'm taking that as a huge compliment! Thank you once again for the review and kind words. :)

Composer & vocalist. One half of Forest Elves, also often found making music with LucidShadowDreamer. I also enjoy encouraging other musicians on NG and getting to hear inspiring music :)
