I really liked this! ^_^

larrynachos responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it, man! It was heavily inspired by your work :D

You've sampled a lot of my favourite things in this piece. Really good job. You had a message to deliver with this and you've delivered it.

Libby-Shimmz responds:

Thanks! :D

Reminds me a little of Kingdom Dance from Tangled at some points. I adore coming across tracks like this on Newgrounds! There is something that is a bit strange to my ears though. Would I be right in thinking that for the main melody in the first three quarters of the piece at least, you've used a layering of honky-tonk piano with an undertone of dulcimer? That's the only thing that keeps me from being able to really imagine this piece. Forgive me if I'm wrong, I know that sometimes people can mishear and reach the wrong conclusion and base their opinion on that which can be frustrating! ^ ^ Really nice job! ~*have a 5*~

LunyAlex responds:

Haha, firstly, thank you for the review and kind words!

Now... Yea, I totally know what you're talking about.

What you're hearing is a Piano combined with a Cimbalom, both playing the same notes at once. Initially I thought it was generating a harpsichord-like sound, but it later became clear that it's more towards of honky-tonk piano.

Thanks again and I'm really glad you liked it!

This. All of this. I love this. fjasoifjdsoiajfdoisjafoij.

ZipZipper responds:

No, I love you. hjkadhsjkdhjdhasjm.

When I can so clearly hear that a song is coming straight from the heart, I listen with a different ear. Less of an objectively judgmental one so that I can fully absorb the music as it was intended. However, I'll try. I could only really bring myself to take off 0.5 stars for the sound quality and for some flat notes in the vocals here and there, neither of which bothered me too much. I'd like to thank you for sharing such a raw performance with us. I'm more than sure that many people will find the lyrics relatable. I think you should think about going down to a studio one of these days and recording this and perhaps a few other originals. Really good job.

CreateAndDestroy responds:

Thank you so much for this review, this really made me happy to read. I appreciate the kind words!

I would love to head into a studio, it's on the list of things to do :)

Again, thank you so so much!

I agree with johnfn in terms of transitions, notably at 1:30 and the ending which seemed randomly abrupt to me. I still think this deserves its 5 stars though, really amazing stuff. You really never know with the NGADM but assuming you get through (which I don't much doubt that you won't), I'll be looking forward to your unique arranging style.

LunyAlex responds:

Thank you, very humbling words. I'll definitely take note of the input and put it to good use!

I really like this.

Spadezer responds:

Emid responds:

Thanks man. Good to see you :)

The NGADM is my favourite time of year because of johnfn.

johnfn responds:

ahh thanks! hopefully i get to hear many more pieces from you! :)

Composer & vocalist. One half of Forest Elves, also often found making music with LucidShadowDreamer. I also enjoy encouraging other musicians on NG and getting to hear inspiring music :)
